Preventative Dentistry

We have a strong focus on preventive dentistry - helping you to avoid potential problems, such as dental decay and gum disease and maintain healthy teeth and gums.

Our preventive dentistry techniques  including teeth cleanings, fluoride treatment and oral health advice are available to the entire family and can help you improve the aesthetics of your smile while restoring the health of your teeth and gums.

On the NHS preventative dentistry usually comes under Band 1 course of treatment and the majority of it covered during your regular check up.
The practice offers a resident Therapist who works two days per week at the practice. This is part of our plan to provide greater levels of service for our patients and will help us in ensuring our patients receive the highest quality care both from the dentists and our therapist. Fiona Johnstone is available to provide NHS treatments for our patients.
Fiona not only carrries out scale and polish treatments to ensure teeth are thoroughly cleaned, but also applies preventative materials to the teeth and gums, and advise on diet and individual home care regimes. she also carries out detailed and precise treatments to restore oral health for patients suffering from gum disease.

We have 5 Fluoride nurses who are qualified in the application of fluoride varnish. Fluoride applications are a safe and effective way to safeguard your growing child's teeth from developing decay. The fluoride is painted onto the surface of the child's teeth and this helps to mineralise the teeth. They can also advice you on maintaining your oral health.
